End-of-Year Celebration and Reflection | 2024
To round off 2024, we held our prize-giving ceremony on 9 December to celebrate our learners for their hard work throughout the year and to look ahead to 2025 with defined goals that they can look forward to achieving for themselves.
Founder and Artistic Director Olwethu Katase explains, “After such a busy and exciting year, it is crucial to take a moment to pause and reflect so that we can move forward with intention and deliberate action.” She encouraged the learners to think and write about where they started, how far they have come, and where they want to go in their journeys towards self-actualisation—which is the very goal of Igugu-lethu Arts and Leadership Project.
The Newlands Forest provided the perfect setting for our celebratory yoga practice and reflection, with its expansive network of lush trees and pockets of sunshine reminding us of the gift of nature and the power of connectedness—both with the natural environment and with ourselves and each other. Our resident yoga instructor Kyle Linde led the movement practice before taking the learners through meditation and the objective-setting session.

Awarding certificates
The quiet moment was followed by the awarding of certificates. We are delighted to present special awards to two learners:
- The award for ‘Impeccable Leadership’ was conferred to Esihle Lusu.
- Lihlelimile Kamva Qwesha was awarded ‘Most Improved in Confidence and Performance Presence’.

The December sun nudged us towards the Newlands pools, where we ended the day with a refreshing swim.
This was one of the most meaningful and memorable closures to the year. It has been an amazing 2024, and 2025 promises to be filled with endless opportunities and possibilities!
