African dance with Lee-Anne Dangatya
As much as we adopt the Western epistemological concepts of ballet and contemporary dance teaching in order to expose Black children and youth to different dance techniques and pedagogies so that they can one day be global artists, we simultaneously recognise the importance of the embodied knowledge and cultural experiences of our Black learners.
African dance is often looked down upon as ‘inferior’, resulting in traditional dance teachers and practitioners existing in isolation. At Igugu-lethu Arts and Leadership Project, we firmly believe that no genre is more important than the other. Each dance genre plays a role in the holistic creative growth of the artist, especially as dancers who are African and located in Africa.

It had to be him! Lihle joined us once again and gave us a spirited, vigorous, and mind-blowing choreography class.

Our contemporary dance teacher Mbulelo Mzazi taught an excellent creative dance class to our juniors aged 10–12 years old.

A wonderful and fun-filled, sweaty Hi-lo session. Kuhle understood the assignment!
Meditative yoga with Kyle Linde
Our resident yoga instructor blessed us with the gift of presence through yoga and meditation. The light in us sees, recognises, and receives the light in you.
